Some memories fade, like whispers in wind,
But some are carved deep where the heart won’t bend.
The hum of the island, the warmth of the sea,
Lingers still, forever a part of me.
A soldier’s march, ten years strong,
Where courage stood right, though the nights felt long.
I carry that weight, though shadows blur,
Of battles fought, and moments that stir.
Three grown children, proud and free,
Their laughter still echoes inside of me.
Yet some memories fade, slip through the cracks,
While others stay rooted, always coming back.
Divorced, but still standing tall,
Fifteen years of learning through it all.
The Marine, the poet, the leader, the man,
With stories untold, but a clear path planned.
Some memories fade, but never the core—
Of faith, of family, of life to explore.
Through the winds of time, I still remain,
–Nelly Vee in the ink, never fading away.
